How do you slow down when the world around you is on overdrive? How do you take a step back when you are already stumbling into the start of your day? And when the day is nearing it’s end? Your body does it’s best to keep up, but simply cannot.
I will fight to LIVE. I will rest more. I will say “NO” more. I will heal my body that is so out of sync.
My health journey is never-ending and recently I received real confirmation that my body is just not cooperating. My test results confirmed that the relentless fatigue and inability to cope with stress is real. The inflammation in my body is real.
As I sat in my doctor’s office, she smiled sweetly at me and said in all sincerity:
“You should move to Hawaii. Doctor’s orders.”
I laughed, but in all seriousness, what was she really saying? My body needs to slow down. I do much better at the beach with the waves and sand and salty air and a slower pace. My sleep rhythms are on Hawaii time, which in turn, so are my cortisol levels that correspond for those times. So how do I get back in sync?
As an empath, I feel so much. I feel all my feelings and then all the ones around me. How to shut out the madness that swirls around me and adhere to firm boundaries for my own peace of mind?
Perhaps the answer is to be the example that rest is okay. Maybe this week I will lead by example. Rest is needed. Rest is good for my body and absolutely essential to LIVE out my days.
More God, less world. Less anxiety, more love. Let go of worry, cling to peace. Let go of guilt, accept grace.
Lord, you are strength. Your strength through me is what I am depending on every day. You have called me to do this work. You will see me through it.
