“And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the LORD, and I will be the GLORY in her midst.” Zechariah 2:5. God can create a wall of fire surrounding your every side. A hedge of protection while displaying His glory in the midst of it all. God protects us from dangers, traps, and trip-ups if we invite Him to do so.
Read God’s Word and invite Him in to be the front door and back door bodyguard you need.
As I stood in the midst of this time capsule, my mouth opened in awe of how God preserves and protects even when fire engulfs the trees standing here. Over a hundred years ago, mill workers cut down these gigantic sequoias. Once they realized the wood was not useful once it splintered, they abandoned their attempts and left logs in the middle of the field.
These giants were made to not only withstand the fire, but to thrive because of it. The fires that rampaged these forests only made the sequoias stronger.
Maybe surrounded by fire is where God wants me at times. To be surrounded at all turns by His fire of protection will keep the enemy out. Instead of looking at the fire of protection as limiting, I realize that it will save me from myself if I allow it to. Instead of pressing my own agenda, it’s wiser for me to walk in His will and watch his plan unfold. I can only do this if I am rooted in His Word and adjusting my steps each way.
His fire, the one that will consume the enemy just beyond my reach while protecting me is a gift.
How do I seek out God’s fire of protection? The past few years it’s taken many forms. Before I was diagnosed with a couple of autoimmune diseases, I was battling a plethora of issues. With the right treatments and medications, they have slowly gotten better, but the brain fog, confusion, depleted energy and stamina, pain, and other symptoms were affecting my decision making processes at times. My emotional boundaries were as weak as my physical strength.
I was constantly second-guessing myself. After seeking out wisdom from the Lord, He reminded me of who I am and I realized I had to set up firmer boundaries with the people in my life. I read a stack of books on improving my relationships and friendships along with books specifically on boundaries.
